davyyhulme house:
self-build dwelling and landscape

A new self-build home in Davyhulme, Trafford, designed to respond sensitively to a complex site adjacent to a non-designated heritage asset. Our design proposals are for a context-driven four bedroom home and a series of external landscaped spaces.

The project draws on the rural character, using simple massing and a restrained material palette of brick, slate and timber. A split-level plan follows the site’s topography, helping the building settle quietly into its setting. The result is a calm, contemporary home which preserves and enhances the setting.

The landscape strategy prioritises biodiversity, using loose, native planting to blur the boundaries between garden and setting. Materials are locally sourced and low maintenance, and the design embraces passive solar gain, natural ventilation, and futureproofed accessibility.

Studio10Architecture are appointed for architecture, landscape design and planning.
